It's good to see the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) getting tough with LG Electronics and its abuse of the Energy Star label (http://bit.ly/6djbZT). Energy Star is among the most powerful energy efficiency brands in the country. Allowing its name to be associated with energy-guzzling refrigerator-freezers does it no good. Hooray for the the smart marketers at Energy Star for taking a stand.
By the way, LG is suing the DOE.

Tim, this is a great point. Creating brand confusion in this space is very dangerous at a point in time, where people's confidence in the global climate crisis has been shaken by the global warming/scientist email scandal.
Folks whose political beliefs lie on the other side of the aisle are attracted by the cost-saving attributes of Energy Star sponsored brands and any confusion there can only do harm.
